This means that Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant.<br /><br />A similar overshadowing also occurs during the Transfiguration. Peter offers to set up three tents, echoing Abraham's haste to offer hospitality to the three angels. Apparently, Peter 'did not know what he was saying' when he made this offer! I suspect he was shouldering something almost as far-reaching as Mary did with her simple 'let it be done unto me according to your word'. Mary agreed to become the new Ark and Peter offered to be like Moses and build the tabernacle - Church - around her. When she was taken into John's house she took up her place at the centre of Peter's Church, like the old Ark within its Tabernacle.<br /><br />Protestant Christians seem to have lost Mary, almost like the Jews, who somehow lost the original Ark of the Covenant.
